We Made It!

Well, we officially live in Lincoln, again! We are in the same apartment complex that we moved out of less than a year ago! Our apartment is identical to the one we were in before, just in a different building! When we moved from Topeka to here, this apartment seemed HUGE as it is a few hundred square feet larger than the house we owned there. But this time around, after living in my parents house, the apartment seems A LOT smaller! It really is a decent size for an apartment at about 1100 square feet! I am happy to have my own bathroom (the master bath) and the boys can have their own bathroom as well. I was in a little bit of a shock yesterday walking in, but I am so thankful that we are all back under one roof, OUR roof...even if we are just renting!! We plan to start looking for a house to buy a few months before our lease is up! I am very excited to be a homeowner again! It can't come soon enough!

Tyson will start back at 'school' on Monday the 15th. We are very excited for him to get back into a routine and make new friends! He is excited as well!

Derick will be heading back to work Monday. He will be on first shift for 2 weeks before shift bid goes into affect, then he will be on third shift with Thursday-Saturday off. We were hoping he'd be on days, but this will be better than second shift! His hours will be 9:30pm-7:30am. It will be nice to have him home for dinner and to help get Tyson to bed.

I spoke with my new boss today and even though I haven't taken my licensing test yet, he asked that I come in from 1-5 next week to start learning the ropes. He said he will be gone all week but April (the only other person in the office besides Chuck-my boss and me) will be there. He said he wanted me to learn the basics so "In the event something catastrophic happens with April" the office won't be left unattended! Um...I am praying nothing happens b/c it scares me to think I'll be left in this office alone not knowing what the heck I'm doing! There is a lot more than just answering the phone! And for those of you who don't know...I will not be doing the same thing as I did when I worked for State Farm before!! I am very excited to start work and be around adults all day!!

Well that's about all I have for now!!

What. A. Weekend.

This past week/weekend was crazy!!
It all started Wednesday afternoon when Derick called and let me know he would be in Omaha Thursday (2/24) at 10:30am! Tyson and I packed up and had the car loaded that evening! We woke up around 4:50 Thursday morning to get ready and head to Omaha! Tyson does really well in the car so the trip went quick! I'm always nervous traveling with him now that he's potty trained for fear that he'll need to 'go' and there will be no place to stop! Lucky for me, he can hold his bladder for a while. After the first stop when he refused to 'try', he needed to go 5 miles down the road!
Anyway, we arrived the airport early and had plenty of time to wait for Derick! Tyson and I were so excited to see Derick!! (see videos below).
After a few stops in Omaha we headed to Lincoln for dinner with some friends. We decided we'd stay in a hotel and have some family time after dinner and take Tyson swimming. Well, the swimming pool was ICE COLD. You could not step in it. It was cold. So lucky for us, the hot tub wasn't very hot...Tyson had fun swimming in the "hot swimming pool"!!

Friday morning I had a meeting with a State Farm Agent in Lincoln for a potential job. I hesitated to call it an interview since when the agent contacted me he didn't sound like he had an open position and just wanted to chat. I thought, "what the heck, it's networking, right?" and met him Friday morning. Well it was an interview and it went very well. Several hours later he called and asked if I would like to come in Monday morning and "see what they do all day", so of course I agreed. After sitting with the only other person who works in his office for 3 hours, I was offered a job! I am very excited and can't believe that I was found a job so quickly!! There are several licensing exams I have to take in order to work there so I will have the first one complete in the next week or so and then start and take the second test after I start in the office.

We spent all weekend at "Papa Gary's farm" and hung out with friends, saw some of Derick's family, road the tractor and relaxed!

The drive home Monday was crazy as Derick and I were in 2 different vehicles talking back and forth on the phone to each other, daycare, the apartment complex and friends and family telling them of our news! Tyson will go back to Destiny Children's Development Center in Lincoln. It's located at Gates of Praise Church on the corner of 70th and Vine. Tyson LOVED it there and they loved him. We are so glad he'll be able to go back there.
We will also move back into the same apartment complex, just a different building. We are happy about this as well. We liked the apartments and they are a decent size for Tyson to have room to play. We'll look into buying a house towards the end of our lease!

Derick will start work in a week from Monday back at the Sheriff's Dept.

Well, that was our weekend in a nutshell! It's been crazy, fun and hectic and we are so excited to be able to get back into a grove as a family so quickly! We would like to thank all of our friends and family for their support over this past 11 months. It has been a year of ups and downs and we are so glad it is over.

Our new address starting 3/8/2010 will be:
Derick, Kim and Tyson Peters
8630 Lexington Ave #301
Lincoln, NE 68505
