Derick and I went down and tailgated with some friends for the Mizzou game and on our way back to our ride we made a stop at the stadium!! I've never been down on the field so it was pretty cool to see it with the lights on and everything!

Dad and Mary went to the Mizzou game as well so we met up with them for 3 minutes!
I'm not sure why this picture is so tiny but this is our house.

This is the view from the living room down to the kitchen.

Update

Wow! It has been awhile since I last updated the blog!!! Let's see...I will begin with Halloween. This was the first year that Tyson has actually wanted to put on a costume and he chose to be Spiderman! I'm not sure why he likes Spiderman so much, but he does! We went to the Halloween store to buy his costume and he wanted to be the "Spiderman wif da muscles!" I wanted him to be something furry and cute but he insisted...and so did Dad. The costume is actually really cute on and I love the fake muscles that make him look buff! Ha!! Since we live in the apartment still we weren't sure where we were going to go trick or treating. Our friends, The Kerchal's invited us out to their house in Waverly to go in their neighborhood! We went out in the early afternoon, the big boys watched football while the little boys played. Tyson and Colt painted pumpkins as well. We then grilled burgers and then got ready to go "candy treating" as Tyson called it!! Tyson was so excited to go!! I told him to make sure to tell everyone thank you for the candy and if he forgot I would remind him and he would run back up to the door and yell "Thank you!!!" to the person who handed him the candy! He would come running back down to us and say, "I got lots of candy!!!" The night was going great until one fateful porch and too many kids on it. Tyson tripped or was accidentally pushed down 2 steps where his face met the concrete!! We heard someone screaming and then realized it was Tyson!! Derick ran up to the house first and I followed concerned I was going to find blood gushing from his head! He ended up with a bruise and pretty good scrape/cut on his eyebrow. He looked like he was punched in the face. Needless to say, that ended our night of "candy treating!"

Next on the list of things to update you with would be the purchase of our home!! We are so happy to finally be homeowners again. We closed on the house on November 4th. Our home is located in Waverly which is about 6 miles or so from where we live now. The house is 3 years old and has only had one previous owner. We have spent the better part of the week painting. My friend April and I painted the entire basement living room and then 2 days later decided I hated the color and repainted it!! Jessi, my close college friend came up from the Columbus area to help Derick paint Monday and Tuesday while I worked! We are lucky to have the friends that we have!! They pretty much painted the entire house in 2 days!! I looks great and we are very ready to move in on Monday!!

On November 5th our sweet little Tyson turned 4!! I still can't believe that it has been 4 years since he was born! Time really does fly!! I took Friday off and we picked Tyson up from school and took him to lunch at Chuck-E-Cheese's (his choice), then to get ice cream then we came home where he discovered his new bike! On Sunday the 7th we had a joint birthday party for Tyson and my cousin Michele's daughter Ava, who turned 5 the day before Tyson's birthday. It was fun to celebrate together since they are little buddies and actually attend the same daycare and are in the same "classroom." Tyson had a Spiderman birthday cake, of course and Ava had a Cinderella cake.

The last thing that I can think of to update you all on is my job. I decided to start looking for a different job a few weeks ago. On Thursday I accepted a job with 2 American Family agents. I will be doing the same type of work that I was doing for the State Farm agent. It's a long story as to why I decided to look for another job. If you want to hear it you can call or email me and I will discuss it with you! I start the new job on the 29th so I gave my 2 week notice yesterday but my boss chose to end my employment the same day. I'm upset by it since I won't be working for 2 weeks which means no paycheck for me for a few weeks, but trying to look on the bright side I will have time to help move and get the house in order. I'm excited to start my new job and hope it's a better fit for me!!

I think that is about all I have for now. Once we get moved in and settled in, our house is open for guests!! We are very excited that we have room to have more than one couple over at a time!!

Our new address is:
13480 Montrose Ct
Waverly, NE 68462

I've posted some pictures from the last month, they are in no particular order!

Pub Crawl for Cancer

On our way to KC for the weekend we stopped in Topeka to have dinner with our good friends, The Erwins. Pictured below is Matt and Kim's son, Troy who turned 2 in July. The boys had fun catching up about Spiderman and Buzz Lightyear while Derick and Matt talked about their jobs (Matt is a police officer in Topeka), football and whatever else boys talk about. Kim and I had fun catching up as well! We miss them so much!!

Where did the Summer Go?

Wow, I can't believe it is already September 8th!! Where has the time gone! It seems like Derick just got home from overseas yesterday and we started back into a routine as a family!!

Derick has gotten back into the swing of things as a Lancaster County Deputy. He has been on 3rd shift (9:30pm-7:30am) for the last 6 months and his days off were Thursday-Saturday! It was great and we've been spoiled! The reality of 'shift work' will set in the end of this month as they just had shift bid and his only option was 2nd shift which is 4:00pm-2:00am with Sunday thru Tuesday off! Kind of puts a damper in his plan to have Saturday's off during college football season but I'm sure the DVR will be fully loaded at the end of those days with plenty of football for him to catch up on when he is off work!

I still enjoy my job as a 'team member' in a State Farm Agent's office. It is very busy and different from day to day! I still have a lot to learn!! There are 2 other girls in the office, April and Mandie and of course Chuck, the agent. Mandie is the marketing person and just started in the office last week. April, who has worked for Chuck for 12 years has been great helping me get adjusted and teaching me and training me in my position. We get along great and have more in common than we knew when I interviewed. Her in-laws live about a mile or 2 from my in-laws, her husband is in the National Guard and has been deployed to Iraq so Derick and her husband have a lot in common with that! She has 3 kids, her youngest is about 2 1/2 and he and Tyson get along great! We've been out to their house several times for dinner and to play and they have been here a couple times as well! It has been nice to have another 'military wife' to talk to about how the deployment went, how things have changed since our husbands were gone and home again and the re-adjustment that comes along with all of that!

Tyson still loves 'school'. He goes to daycare full-time and really is growing!! He's had a few days where he's bitten someone, hit someone, or just flat out been defiant, but that's normal, right?! His teacher says that he's her favorite and even on his 'bad' days he's better than the other kids are every day! So I guess maybe he's not too terrible! We just work very hard on making sure he listens and is respectful. Every day before he leaves the house I tell him, "Be good at school and listen to Miss Natalya, got it?!" To which he replies, "got it mom" like "duh, you tell me that everyday!" He's really a good kid and just so sweet (most of the time). I can't believe how big he is! He's like a little person all of the sudden with his own mind and opinions!! It's fun to have conversations with him, listen to him play and talk to himself, the funny things he says and the times he tries to reason and negotiate with us! He's so independent! As much as I love it, I miss him as a squishy little baby!! Gosh, listen to me, ya think he's leaving for college soon!!

Some other exciting news in our lives is that we started the house hunting process! We have looked at 3 houses in the last 2 weeks, one of which we've looked at twice! I found "the one" for me, but Derick wants to keep looking!! We are looking Waverly, NE. It's a small town about 8 miles or so from Lincoln. I logged it and it was 9 miles from the gas station in Waverly to Tyson's daycare, so it's not too far out of Lincoln! It's a small town, which Derick wants and it's close enough to Lincoln, so I don't feel like I'm in the sticks!! We are ALL very excited to be in a house and finally be settled!! Tyson is looking forward to a "swing set wif a slide and swings and a tree house that my daddy is going to build for me!!" He wants it so bad that we even use it as a bribe when needed, "Tyson, you have to go to bed like a big boy if you want a swing set at the new house!" I know, kind of wrong, but hey, it works :) Also when we are in the house our beloved Oscar Peters will join us once again! The poor dog has lived at Derick's parent's house longer than he's been in our custody! Ha! He is pretty spoiled there as I have mentioned before, so I'm not sure he'll want to move back in with us! He goes on tractor rides (for real), he gets fed ice cream and cheese, sleeps with Gary and Kathy and even has his own recliner! He will be one of those headlines you see one day that reads, "Cocker Spaniel Runs 50 Miles Back to Farmhouse in Tecumseh"...I can see it now...

Well anyway, thought I'd update those of you that read this! Hopefully soon I'll have some exciting news saying that we're homeowners again!!
