Guy's Night Out

Tyson and I went up to Derick's parents house Thursday evening thru Saturday afternoon. Derick's brother Sean, his wife Missy and their 2 boys-Braxton and Carson were there as well. Sean, B and C were going to go to Missy's brother Mike's cabin in KS about 10 miles west of Topeka for the night and Tyson was invited to go along. It would be 3 adult males (Uncle Sean, Mike and Missy's other brother Russ) with FIVE boys ages 3-6! I was hesitant to let Tyson go along since I've become VERY protective of him since Derick left. Anyway, Tyson was so excited when they asked him! He came up to me saying "Pweeease mommy! Pweeease can I go wif dem???" It was hard for me to resist that little face and voice! I made sure I explained to him several times that they would be spending the night and that I would NOT be there! He said, "OK mom!!" and was out the door! He looked SO happy in the back on the truck buckled in his car seat between his cousins!!

I gave Uncle Sean STRICT orders to text me when they arrived and send me updates throughout the day! I've left Tyson before overnight, but not in a situation like this! Sean text me and said Tyson has been playing outside, throwing rocks in the lake and SHOT A GUN! I couldn't believe it! But I'm sure he was having a blast! He needed some quality 'guy time' since he's with me all the time!!

When they returned safe and sound Saturday late morning all of the boys were in the clothes they went in the day before, they were dirty and smelled! Tyson was eating chips so I asked him if he'd like some macaroni and cheese to which he replied, "I want a donut, pwease." I said what the heck and let him have one. I asked how many he had already and his cousin Carson blurted out, "Auntie Kim, he's had LOTS of donuts!!" To which Carson's Uncle Mike said, "Carson! We don't talk about what happened at the cabin!!" Sigh...who knows what else went on there!?!

Anyway, above is the picture of Tyson shooting a 22 with Russ (Auntie Missy's brother).

"When My Daddy Comes Home..."

As most of you know, Derick will be home for his 15 day leave by the end of next week. For the last week or so I've been pumping Tyson up about Derick coming home. I will ask him if he's excited for daddy to come home or we'll talk about all the things we'll do while Derick is home for his visit. So for the last week or so, Tyson will randomly shout out things he wants to do while daddy is home. They are pretty funny and very random and make me chuckle. Thought I'd share with the people that follow my blog!

When reading them, try to hear a VERY excited 3 year olds voice...

"When my daddy comes home, I'm going to ride on a cow!"
"When my daddy comes home, I'm going to play hop-scotch!"
"When my daddy comes home, we're going to watch Shrek!"
"When my daddy comes home, we're going to play rough!" (Sometimes T and I will 'play rough'
like he would be playing with Derick...it usually ends up in me on the floor and him jumping on
top of me over and over and over...)
"When my daddy comes home, we're going to eat pancakes!"
"When my daddy comes home, I'm going to hold a baby cow!!!"

I'm not sure if we'll accomplish all of these while Derick is here, but we'll try to check most of them off the the list!

Tyson's newborn shirt!

I was going thru Tyson's dresser and found the shirt the hospital put him in right after he was born! I can't believe he was ever this small!
(The quality is poor since I took it with my cell phone).

Tyson's Birthday Party!

Yesterday, November 7th we had Tyson's official birthday party! It was so much fun! His Grandma and Grandpa Peters came down from Nebraska. Uncle Sean, Auntie Missy and Braxton and Carson came over from St. Louis. Our friends from Topeka; Kim, Matt and Troy Erwin came over to help celebrate as well! Two of my best girlfriends came for the festivities as well! Kristine, Lindy and I met freshmen year at UNK and have been friends since! We had a great time hanging out and talking girl talk! We watched Nebraska beat Oklahoma that evening and had a little football party with my sister's, mom and dad, and Curtis (Lindy's husband). It was so great having family and friends here to help celebrate! We had PERFECT weather (it was about 75 degrees) and good food and fun. The only way the day would have been better is if Derick could have been here to help celebrate! Derick did call and he had a chance to talk to his family and my parents. Anyway, I was sad to see everyone go but we had such a great day! We are so thankful to have so many wonderful people in our lives!

Tyson Turns Three!

I just can't believe that my little baby boy is 3 today! It is insane how much they grow and change right before your eyes in such a short period of time! Today has been bittersweet...it is weird to celebrate his birthday without Derick here. Usually we are reminiscing about labor and delivery and the days after, but today there was none of that since Derick isn't here. Derick did call and talk to Tyson for a few minutes earlier. I'm sure it's so hard for Derick not to be here today. Today I let Tyson have his 'big' present from Derick and Me and my parents. It is a Handy Manny Workbench! For the last month every time we see a commercial for it Tyson says, "Mommy!! I want that for my birfday present!!" I was SO excited for him to see it since he's been asking for it for a month!! We also ordered pizza and had a birthday cookie. Saturday we will have his big party with family and some of mommy's friends!
