Tyson insisted on taking Buddy for a walk...

Hot Wheel!

Grandma Cindy bought Tyson this super cool Hot Wheel! It's not like the old school Hot Wheel's, it has all sorts of bells and whistles; a button for a 'radio', one to tell you the weather, a horn and an ignition button! Tyson had a blast with it. He hasn't figured out the pedals yet, but had fun going down the driveway and having me push him around!

Sidewalk Chalk

I bought some sidewalk chalk for Tyson to play with. He's never used it before. He's not your typical boy, he doesn't like to get dirty so holding the chalk and getting it all over his hands and pants didn't go over so well with him! We had fun drawing with it anyway and can't wait for the rain to go away so we can get back out there! We wanted to show daddy all the fun we were having so we sent him this picture!

Thomas Hat

Grandma bought Tyson this Thomas the Tank Engine hat to wear when we go see Thomas in June and he gives us a ride! Tyson can't wait and has been asking daily when we get to see Thomas! Grandma and Grandpa Peters are also coming down to join the fun!

Crazy Cardinal

This Cardinal is the most annoying bird I've ever seen. It flies into the kitchen window over and over and OVER again. It flies from its post in this picture and right into the window and back again. Or it was sit on the railing of the landing out their back door and do the same thing. It is very annoying yet a little humorous! It's something I had to share!

Pictures from this weekend.

And he's gone...

My dad and I took Derick to the airport in Omaha yesterday (4/26/09) around 5:00 am. It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. I've been away from him before but it was while we were dating and he was stationed in Iceland but this is clearly not the same! We have been together pretty much every day for the last 5 years and have so much more invested in each other now.

Derick is in Gulf Port Mississippi for this week and then next week he will go to Camp Shelby and start training wtih the Army unit he is deploying with. He will come home from June 26th-July 7th before going to Kuwait for processing and then to Afghanistan for 9 months.

Our family was assigned a case worker through The Fleet and Family Support Center. She sent us a huge packet of different literature about the Navy and support information. There was a DVD for Tyson telling a story that Elmo's daddy has to go away for a while to help other people. It's on in the background as I type. In between clips of Elmo there are real families who have been through deployments and some things they did to help deal with their parent/spouse being away. He seems to like the movie but I don't think he fully understands.

Tyson has had several sessions in time out today. I am fully prepared for him to act out during this transition. After all, we have uprooted the poor kid from his daycare, his home, moved in with Grandma and Grandpa and told Daddy good-bye all in less than a week...he's going to be grouchy, I know I am! It was a little hard listening to him scream in time out today since he was crying for Derick...that doesn't help!

I will continue to post notes with updates and such.

Tractor ride...again!

Every time we go to the Farm Tyson has to ride the tractor! This time daddy hopped on for a 3 generation tractor ride on the old tractor!

I didn't like the size of the other photos...

Those little pictures in the last blog were bothering me so I had to post them again. I don't know what happend.

This one of us was taken Easter Sunday. The local paper in Derick's hometown is doing an aritcle on him and his deployment and they wanted a picture of us in uniform...that's why he's in it on Easter...and apparently he's not allowed to smile when wearing it :)
The other photo is just from our night out Friday...

Grocery Shopping

We decided to let Tyson start helping out with a few tasks. What better place than the grocery store?! He was such a big helper, he followed us, stayed close by, only put items in the cart that we told him too! It was so cute watching him, I almost cried! He went and put the cart back without being told and he ran over to me and said, "Mommy!! I did it!!" He was SO proud of himself! There were only a few close calls with other shoppers...

Trip to the Children's Museum

We met up with Kristine and Evelyn Saturday and headed to the Children's Museum! Tyson has so much fun being able to run free and play with and get into whatever he wants!!
